Disable plain text and rich text buttons

I have created a GPO under user configuration, policies, administrative templates, Outlook 2010 and Disable items in user Interface/Custom.

Here i have added the following command bar id's: 5563 and 5565 which should disable Rich text and plain text buttons so users can only create html e-mails.

I have checked the registry to see if the policy gets Applied which it does.

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\disablecmdbaritemslist where two keys are:

TCID 1 5563

TCID 2 5565

So everything looks fine but Rich text and plain text is still there when i compose a Message.

Im using Outlook 2007 while the policy setting says 2010. Can that be the reason? I can only see 2010 in the policy settings

Then you need to set the Registry key to 12.0 instead of 14.0. You cant use Outlook 2010 GPO templates to manage Outlook 2007.

Also note that you'll only disable the buttons with that GPO. It will not disable the ability to compose or receive messages in Plain Text or RTF format.

Hi,

Robert is right. You can't use Outlook 2010 GPO templates to manage Outlook 2007.

2007 Office system Administrative Template files (ADM, ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool version 2.0
