Dist. Groups in GAL
Hiya,
Is there any way now in Exchange 2010 SP2 to show distribution groups at the top of the GAL in Outlook, without having to prefix the names with an _ (a 'hack' I see quite often!). I personally refuse to use such hacks as it looks crap.
Thanks

Hi, All Distribution Groups being displayed at the beginning of the Global Address List. That is the simple way to do it is using special characters on the Group Name. The following syntax can be used: #Group name i know that you gona not like that
but that is the only way or what else can be done while selecting or looking for Distribution name from the Gal just Select "All Groups", instead of all contacts.
OR How Do I Change the Default Address Book?
This is probably the most requested task we get regarding Outlook and addresses. This option controls which address book you see when you open the Address Book (via clicking Ctrl Shift B) and when you click the To, Cc, or Bcc buttons when composing e-mails.
If you are using a nonMicrosoft Exchange e-mail account, by default, Outlook displays the Outlook Address Book. If you are using a Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail account, the Global Address List is displayed by default.
However, you can change this default by doing the following:
1.From the Tools menu, select Address Book (or click Ctrl Shift B) to open the Address Book dialog box.
2.From the Tools menu, select Options to display the Addressing dialog box.
3.From the drop-down list labeled Show this address list first , select the desired address book.
4.Click the OK button.
5.Close the Address Book dialog box.
Thanks

Why not look for DLs in the "All Groups" address list?

Rich, I know what you mean, as that's what I do.
But Lusers don't seem to have the ability or patience to click a dropdown box to filter results. Put it this way, we have data folders with many thousand sub-folders. Do they use the Search Bar in Windows 7 to quickly find what they're looking for or
do the scroll down to the 2,456th folder trying arduously to scroll to the correct place?

It's been my experience that they'll scroll down.
How you name the objects in your AD is really up to you. If you want
mail-enabled groups to appear at the top of an alphabetized list
you'll have name them so they sort that way. If you don't care where
the fall in the list as long as they're all together then you can name
the all to begin with "DL-".
