This may seem a strange request, but I been asked if I can stop a member of a distribution group from receiving emails? you may ask why have them in that group in the first place. But here’s the scenario:Group A (Whole Company) has Group B (Branch Office) nested into it, Group B is made up of various business units and external contactors all divided into their own groups, so if a message is sent to Group B that is ok, but if a message is sent to Group A they want the message to go all except the external contractors, obviously Group A does not have any users just groups in it.I hope this makes sense.ThanksMichael

I've been playing with transport rules this morning and can't get it to work, I currently have:Apply rule to messagesfrom users inside the organization and sent to a member of Group XXX and when the anu of the recipients in the To or CC field is a member of XXXSilently drop the messageThe rule just gets ignore ?!? Is this becuase the recipient isn't the the To and CC field as it's being sent to a group ?ThanksMcihael.

How about a rule that drops all email to members of Group B, where the To: header contains the smtp address of Group A?

I think mjolinor has a great suggestion and would work. Another option is create another distribution group called group C and place the internal employees into group C. Remove Group B as a member of Group A and add group C as a member of group A. Distribution groups are low in cost in terms of administration and footprint in the environment.
