Distribution Lists
We are running Exchange 2003. I created a DL in the AD then when we open our Outlook clients the Dl does not show up in the GAL but it does show up when I select All Groups in the Address book section. How do I get new DL's to show up in the GAL.

Did you create a Distribution List or did you create an Exchange Custom Address List (in ESM) ? When you created the group, did you create mailbox for it; then, make sure "Hide from address book" is not set.

If you can see the DL in All Groups that means it is published in GAL. could you please make sure that you have not set any custom filters on that DL to show up only in All Groups also pull latest OAB in outlook and then try to do name look up in outlook
Start outlook click on Tools ->click on send/receive ->click on Download Address Book then click on Ok

That tells me the client is in cache mode andyou need to generate the new Offline Address List on the Server, then download it to the client. ( Any Address List under the "All Address Lists" container is not included in the OAB the client downloads. To access those lists, the client uses the "online GAL") For more information on how to manage all the OAB generation on the server and client, please see:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841273Administering the offline address book in Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007You could also check via OWA or switch Outlook to online mode and you should see the the DL in the GAL then.

Hi,
In default installation it took around 24 hours to generate OAB. Please ensure to download the address book after 24 hours and check whether the issue is still there.
Thanks.
