Distribution group not showing in Exchange 2007 console
We use AD 2003 which I have installed on my desktop (MMC 3.0) with the Exchange 2007 snap-in added. My issue is, for example, I add a Distribution Group (Global or Univ) to the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in then go to the Microsoft Exchange > Recipient Configuration > Distribution Group section of the console to enable Mail - the group I just created is not there nor will it replicate to this section. However, when I create the distribution group in the Microsoft Exchange > Recipient Configuration > Distribution Group section it will replicate to the AD Dist group. Why? The mail server is not a domain controller.

With Exchagne 2007, you must create or mail-enable your distribution groups via the Exchange Management Console or the Exchange Management Shell. You cannot create and mail-enable groups via the Active Directory Users and Computers console anymore. In E2K3, the Receipit Update Service (RUS) would automatically stamp the objects with the correct attributes, but that no longer occurs with E2K7. All mail-enabled object management must be handed via the EMC or the EMS. You can, however, create the group in ADUC and then mail-enable it via the EMC.Jim McBee - Blog - http://mostlyexchange.blogspot.com

I agree with Jim. User or DL created in ADUC is not E-mail enabled, they do not have mail feature added. We have to create the mailbox in EMC or EMS to add email feature, thus it will apprear in the Exchange Console.Understanding the LegacyExchangeDNhttp://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Understanding-LegacyExchangeDN.htmlRegards,Xiu
