Domain Question
Our organization is migrating to Exchange Server 2007 from a third party server. Our domain is abc.internal rather than abc.com. The email that Exchange will handle will be for abc.com. Given that our Domain Controllers are using abc.internal rather than .com, will we need to change our internal domain to abc.com before deploying Exchange Server? Can Exchange be a member of abc.internal and still handle mail for abc.com?Greg

While Exchange by default accepts mail for your Active Directory domain name, most people have the same situation you do where their public SMTP name space is actually different. This is solved by creating an Accepted Domain within Exchange. It basically tells Exchange to accept mail for whatever domain you specify and is not dependant or in any way related to your Active Directory domain name.See here to get started:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124423.aspx&http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/11/16/431531.aspx Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator
