Dumb question
Hello everyone, i have a question regarding exchange aliases. I currently have a user who has access to another mailbox. that mailbox has it's own address but also has 2 aliases. He wants us to give another user access to both the mailbox and aliases. I know i can give this other user access to the mail box, but when i try to add the aliases under the "email addresses" tab, i get the "set-mailbox" error stating that a user is already assigned to this alias. My question is, can multiple users share an alias??

Hi, No, an email address can only be assigned to one recipient in exchange organization. Regards,Laeeq Qazi|Team Lead(Exchange + Sharepoint + BES + DynamicsCRM) www.HostingController.com

So just to make sure i understand correctly, if i set up an alias for myself, only i have access to it right? i can't give anyone else access to that alias, unless i give them access to my mailbox. Thanks much!! :) Walter.

Or if u just assign mailbox permissions to some other user for your mailbox. Also it is important to note that by default in exchange you can only use your primary smtp email address as sender of an email, you cant use aliases as send as in outlook without using third party tool.
