I have created a newDynamic Distribution List in Exchange 2007. It shows up fine in the Exchange Manager and displays the proper recipients. It does not show up in the Global Address List or the Groups address lists. It does not show in OWA either. Also in ADUC the icon for the list isa generic icon and not the usual group icon. Any suggestions on what might be going on here?

If I understand your question correctly; yes, I set the Recipient/Container option to enclude the entire organization. As I stated before the distribution list contains the proper recipients based on the parameters I set for it. The list doesn't show up in the GAL and seems to display improperly in ADUC.

Do you have more DDLs or just this one? If you have more than one, does any of them show up in GAL? Do you have Exchange 2000? IF yes, did you install Exchange 2007 in the same organization as Exchange 2000?

I only have the one DDL. As for your other question, I am a new systems admin for this company and did not build the Exchange system. As I understand it thiswas an upgrade from 5.5 to 2003 to 2007 using the same org. There are about 30 other distribution lists created likely in both 5.5 and 2003 none of which are dynamic and all show up in the GAL. The only one not showing is the DDL. Edit: I assume they built a new 2007 server and migrated the mailboxes and public folders over. Thanks.

I tried a few things like adding (objectClass=msExchDynamicDistributionList) to All Groups properties via asdiedit. No help. Any other suggestions to this issue? I have search everwhere for some information on this problem and cannot find anything specific. Did you try to recreate the DDL? Try to remove the faulty DDL and recreate it. Or ceate a new DDL for test and see if that works. It would help to know if this is the issue with just one DDL or with any new DDL you create.

I have deleted and re-created the DDL with the same results. Also I have created a couple of DDLs based on different criteria and the same thing happens with each of them. They do not show up in the GAL and they show up in ADUC with a generic icon. Also the properties of the DDLs in ADUC contain the "Managed By", "Object", and "Security" tabs only - no other tabs.

I have found a partial solution. By following the suggestions in this article http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/01/11/432158.aspx the DDL shows in the "All Group" address book but does not appear in the GAL and it still shows in ADUC with a generic icon and the properties are not correct.

I ran the follolwing powershellcommand Get-DistributionGroup | FT Name, AddressListMembership and the DDL did not show up in the list. I am not much of a powershell user and do not know how to check the other attributes but in the EMCthe DDL properties"Hide group from Exchange address lists" is not checked.

Ok, I think I have found where the attributes are located, at least one; CN=Configuration,DC="domain",DC=net CN=Services CN=Microsoft Exchange CN="org name" CN=Address Lists Container CN=All Address Lists CN=All Groups "showInAddressBook" which is set to <Not Set>. I assume I need to set this read TRUE. Correct?

I attempted to change the "showInAddressBook" attribute for All Groups to "TRUE" but it came back as an invalid entry. What should this be set as?

Well here I am again at the same issue with no resolution in sight. Once Microsoft has figured how to break something in a way that no one can figure out how to get it fixed. Exchange 2007 is broken.

What is the OPATH syntax you are using to create the DDL? Paste that here. We have several DDL we created on Exchange 2003, that we convered to OPATH to change some parameters on Exchnage 2007, and now we are still using them on Exchange 2010. Could be something misconfigured as well. But since you didnt' install it, you can blame the other guys. :-) Should be something like: New-DynamicDistributionGroup -name "DDL Name" -Alias "DDL Alias" -OrganizationalUnit "domain.com/users" -RecipientFilter {((RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') ....blah blah blah)}
