E-mail: field in ADUC
Hi AllWe are running Windows 2003 AD/ Exchange 2003.If I create a user in AD, but do not mail enable the user, there is still the E-mail: attribute listed in the user's AD properties (AD properties > General tab> E-mail:)Does anyone know what this field actually does? If I enter a value in here, I notice that the User does not appear in the GAL. Is this because if you don't mail enable the user from the onset, the account has no Exchange attributes? Also - say I was to mail enable the user and create an Exchange mailbox. In ADUC Properties > E-mail Addresses tab, I can see an address for me@mydomain.com that would be generated by RUS. How does this address fit into the email address in General > E-mail:? Usually, they are the same, but sometimes they can differ, does anyone know how this is?Any answers appreciated!Cheers

This is an attribute belong to windows set and not really with Exchange set of attribute butif object is mail(box) enabled, this should match with Primary SMTP address otherwise OAB generation process may give you an error and skip this entry from OAB.Event ID 9325 is logged when Exchange 2003 generates an offline address listhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/926206Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
