E-mails received in plain text
Some E-mails, from specific correspondents, are being shown in plain text, including the attachments (even photos, which seem to be interpretated in ASCII characters), all in the same body.
I've got a Outlook 2003 over a Vista Home.
Those correspondents told me I am the only one that signaled this problem.
Thanks for any help.

HelloYou need to modify your MS Outlook settings which might not be correct. Go to Tools > OptionsHere you will find number of settings for outlook. Look for mail format option and enable the html format to send and receive emails. This will help you out and you can send and receive messages in html format. Thanks

Hi,
Please try to follow the below steps to troubleshoot this issue:
1. Opened ESM and under global settings-->internet message formats-->default-->properties-->message format --we have "Both" checked under MIME
2. Check whether you have set the set the exclusions for the Exchange files in the AV.
3. Check Outlook settings.
a. Removed the 3rd party add-ins from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Add-ins and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Add-ins
b. Outlook -->tools-->options-->email option==Read all mails in plain text is unchecked
c. Outlook-->tools-->options-->security-->change automatic download settings-->the first 3 options are checked
d. Outlook-->tools-->options-->Other-->advanced options-->Add-in manager and removed
e. Try to open the same email in OWA to see whether it can be display normally.
f. Please add the register to the below location:
HKLM\Software\WorldTalk\Conversion\<Connector Name>\mpi-html-binaryType: REG_DWORD Value: 1

Some of your suggestions I have got to put in pratice, but others I haven't identified clearly:
1. I haven't identified what "ESM" holds for, neither the sequence of commands "global settings-->internet message formats-->default-->properties-->message format --we have "Both" checked under MIME". Could you elaborate more, please?
2. I use Avast as AV. It doesn't have any specific set of exclusions.
3. I hve checked Outlool setting and I didin't see any problem (I am not an expert).
a. I avoided to change any Register before being sure of the ohter suggestions.
b. "Read all mails in plain text" is already unchecked.
c. "change automatic download settings", the first 3 options are already checked.
d. Add-ins: I have only 2: Avast, which shall remains, and "Exchange extention properties pages", which I don't kow what it is, so I unchecked it. BUTI DIDN'T UNDERTAND WHAT TO REMOVE?
e. I don't know what "OWA" is. Could you elaborate a little bit more, please?
f. I prefer to make Registers changes as a last resource (see item a.).
Thanks again.

Hi Neha15,
Thank you for your interest in my problem.
My Outlook is a 2003 sp3 and email->format option refers only to "outgoing messages". And it is already set to "html format".
I didn't identify any place to set "format" to incoming messages.

It's me again, sgcfreitas
ESM holds for Exchange Server Manager, which I don't have in my comp. I use only Outlook 2003 sp 3.
But one of your link suggestions has an article about outlook encoding that I took. It is about including a new key entry in Register to induce outlook to decode "inteligently". I have already implemented it and now i am waiting for other e-mails to perform the check.
What is "OWA", please? It seemed to be a piece of software that reads already received messages. Can you please give me a hint where to find it?
Thanks again

Hi,
Sorry for my delay.
OWA-Outlook Web Access,it has URL which you can used to logon your mailbox via Internet Explorer.
You can run Get-OwaVirtualDirectory to see the owavitualdirctory.

I think this is a home user and does not have anything to do with a corp issue.
If you are not a corporate user, you will not be using OWA, which is a web page to check your corporate e-mail.
Are you a home user?

Thank for your interest, JohnGann
Yes, I am a home user, but I didn't understand why I can not use such a web service.
