E2K7 - Installation of CCR after Exchange Server has already been installed?
Dear all,we've a E2K7 infrastructure consisting of 2 servers. The 1st server hosts the Hub Role, the 2nd Server hosts Mailbox and Client Access Role. Now I'd like to add a 3rd Server hosting Mailbox and Client Access Role as well in order to configure CCR between the two Mailbox Servers.Question is: is it possible to adjust the configuration of the existing Mailbox server in a way to activate its Active Cluster Role? Or do I have to complete a fresh custom installation?RegardsAlex

With Exchange 2007, you'll have to flatten the box and reinstall the mailbox server role. Incremental deployment is a feature of Exchange 2010, so there are improvements when you upgrade. ;)Neil Hobson, Exchange MVP

Dear Neil,at least there are some features which make Exchange 2010 worthy ;-)Unfortunately an upgrade is not an option. Therefore I have to find another way. Maybe I could install a new Active Server Role on a fresh VM, and then move all existing mailboxes to that server within the same organization? Alex

Yes, you could do that - move the users to a VM (as long as it's man enough to cope with the load, etc) and then rebuild two of the servers as a CCR pair.Neil Hobson, Exchange MVP

Technically you can build a single-node clustered mailbox
server, move the mailboxes to it, then add the second node of the CCR cluster
afterward.-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good
