EAC Mail Flow - limitations?

Hi

Just trying to track down some inbound messages that have failed to arrive at users mailbox, but struggling with the EAC Mail Flow Delivery Reports at even a very basic level so would appreciate a bit of insight on a couple of points.

If I select a users Mailbox to search, and then select the same user for 'Search for messages sent to:', I would have thought I would get back all the messages (or top 1000) sent to that person, but instead I only got a couple messages where he had sent test emails to himself.

Also, If I'm trying to track down messages that were addressed to that person, but that didn't arrive, would they show up in that person's mailbox if they had been filtered out by Exchange on the way through the server.

Many thanks

Hi ,

Please use the below mentioned command to get more clarity on your issue.

Get-TransportService | Get-MessageTrackingLog -Sender "nithyanandham.s@abc.com" -Recipients "karthick.m@abc.com-ResultSize unlimited -MessageSubject "test" | Select-Object eventid,sender,timestamp,OriginalClientIp,connectorid,@{Name="Recipients";Expression={$_.recipients}},@{Name="RecipientStatus";Expression={$_.recipientstatus}},messagesubject | Export-csv c:\nithya.csv

Note : On the excel sheet just filter by the Event ID "deliver" so that you would come to know the list of messages that was delivered .In addition to that please change the message subject, sender and recipients on the above mentioned command.

Thanks for the handy script - changed the parameters and got back the data just fine!  It confirms that the message arrived at the server, but then failed for delivery, so any clues why?  As you can see, the message is coming from Microsoft to add a new user to our Partnership Network which normally works find so it's a little frustrating!

Hi ,

On the message tracking log you can able to find out the reason for failure in the field "RecipientStatus".So please check the error code and failure reason mentioned on that field.

Hi,

I suggest to enable protocol logging on receive connector, then check the log.

Configure protocol logging

Well, here's the Recipient Status - mean anything to you?

[{LRT=};{LED=250 2.6.0 <dad3607e-4204-4906-8125-c5834d9789f5@xtinmta4142.xt.local> Queued mail for delivery};{FQDN=};{IP=}]

Not sure of the cause, though I suspect that because Microsofts mails are coming via an address that isn't properly verified, but adding the domain to the bypassed domain list using the Set-SenderIDConfig command seems to have done the trick.

Many thanks all.
