EVENT IDs
Hello,
I user Exchange 2007 and I am setting up a monitoring script to inform me about event IDs. I am gathering the one I have already faced but would you have already a list of Event ID I should be warned about? Like Certificate about to expire, service down
etc..??
Thanks to all in advance,
GRaig

that will be a lot of event ids.
i suggest you think about monitoring all types of "Warning" and "Error" messages.
this way you dont have any hardcoded list of events to monitor.

I though as well about checking the "Warning" and "Error" event IDs. But I don't need to know error related to other topic than Exchange related or windows 2003 server. For instance I would not care about error Windows Update Agent

I guess this will be a dedicated Exchange Server, if so i still recommend going by "Warning" / "Error" and from the "Application Log"
I agree with you example on the Update Agent, but this will one off, not like an everyday event, so i guess it is ok for just 1 day.
There will always be new eventids as and when new service pack or hotfix gets released, and it will become very tedious to maintain all those event ids.
