EX07 Cant activate / deactive Out of Office Reply
Hello Guy's we are experiencing Problems with the Out of Office Replys. although i can disable the Out of Office Messages in Outlook or in the Web Acces, and Outlook Reports no erros, Out of Offices Messages are still send. On the other Side when i enable the Out of Office Replys, they are not send. But in Outlook it is displayed that you'r absent. It seems to me thers something wrong with enabling / disabling the OOf rule. Has anybody an Idea where to start digging? We are using Clusterd Mailbox Server and 2 CA/HT Servers greetings Stefan

Hi, I think you should enable anonymous authentication on the EWS virtual directory and Out Of Office will work. I hope this will help you. Regards. Hello, I just restarted the IIS on the first CA/HT Server and Rebootetd the Second CA/HT Server. Now it seems to work again, i did not change any permission. But i just want to know: Wich Server Rolle is responsible for Sending the Out of Office Message? I assumed that the Mailbox Server Role is responsible processing the Mailbox rules? regards

It sounds like your EWS service failed to start (this is responsible for OOS) or stopped unexpectedly. Check both your servers to see which one hosts the EWS and then you should know where to check if this happens again in the future. Hope that helps. Barry

Hi, To answer your question, the Out of Office (OOF) feature need Client Access Server role, Mailbox Server role and Edge Server role since the Out of Office functionality is distributed across all these roles. Meanwhile, the primary component is Outlook client which contains most OOF settings. For more information about OOF feature, please refer to the following article: Exchange Server 2007 Out of Office (OOF) Exchange Server 2007 Out of Office (OOF) 2 Thanks, NovakPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
