Edge Server Config Issue
Hi I needed some clarifications on a new setup The current set up is 1 PDC windows server 2003 , 1 ADC Windows server 2008 R2 , 1 Exchange Server on windows server 2008 ( all 3 roles installed ) . Currently outbound Email is relayed through a Smart host (smtp gateway) hosted at 3rd party service provider whose MX record is pfc.delhi.nic.in and the Public IP exposed at the Organizations Firewall end ( Cisco ASA ) is the IP given by the Service provider say X.0.0.0 Now we are planning to introduce an Edge Server in the architecture. Q1> do we just remove the send/recieve connectors which were relaying outbound mails to the external SMTP gateway and then create the edge subscription file?? Or Can we remove the Hub Transport Role and Reinstall it again and then create the Edge Subscription ?? What should be ideal way to do it ?? The customer wants to relay mail now through a Edge Server but through a different IP than the previous one provided by a different ISP say Y.0.0.0 . He has procured a Domain named PFCINDIA.com and registered the MX records appropriately. The MX is binded to Both Ip's X.0.0.0 & Y.0.0.0 as mentioned earlier. Now the problem is that Customer wants to recive Mails sent for both addresses myname@pfcdelhi.nic.in and myname@pfindia.com these two have separate MX records the earlier one bined with IP X.0.0.0 and the latter with IP X.0.0.0&Y.0.0.0. Can i add two public IP's at the Firewall level so that incoming SMTP traffic frm both are realyed into my Edge Server ???

Hi there,Follow this guide: http://thaolv.cmgroupvn.com/2009/08/installing-configuring-exchange-2007.htmlPlease note you:1: Do not need to un-install and re-install the Hub Transport role2. That supporting to SMTP domains to send and recieve mail from in Exchange doesn't require 2 IP's on the firewall and seperate MX - you can have one IP and unified MX records for both domains.OliverOliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCTS:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim
