Edit Sent Emails in Exchange
Hello
We need to add an ID string to the end of the Subject text, for every Email sent and received through our Exchange Server 2007.
Is this possible?
And if so, how?
Maybe using a Transfer Agent?
Any examples or links that could help me, would be great.
Many thanks

Exchange 2007 transport rules has an action of prepend subject, but that would go at the front of the the subject, but it would be the simplist solution. Otherwise, you would have to write a MTA, here is a blog entry with a link to one

Hi Collard
It could be done via message transfer agent.
If Russ's links are helpful to your requirement. Please Mark As Answer.

Hi Russ
I had a look at the first link you included in your reply (http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2008/06/25/3405650.aspx) and it has a sample project that shows how to
change the Subject text in the RoutingAgent.OnSubmittedMessage event handler.
Got a couple more questions.
Will the RoutingAgent.OnSubmittedMessage event be raised when emails are received and/or sent? When the Subject value is changed, will the new value be stored in the Exchange Store, so the new Subject text can be seen in Outlook / OWA in the Inbox or Sent Items folder?
Many thanks
