Email Address Change on Server
Howdy,I am sure this is a silly question but how/where can we change the email address of the server..What I mean is that our server name is server.office.companyname.com (as our domain is office,companyname.com)We just added a new exchange server to replace a Zimbra mail server (yeah) and we would like to give everyone the same email addresses and alias that they had before, but the problem is that our email addresses where username@companyname.com. (with no OFFICE in it)Can I change the server somewhere to make it so when people send emails it shows as username@companyname.comand the same for their addresses? Or am I stuck with username@office.companyname.com. (which I don't think is going to fly with the people upstairs.)Thanks for your time..Moe

You need to modify the Email address policy, which defines what the email address format will be for your users. For Excahnge 2007 server, go to the Organization Configuration container in Exchange Management Console, choose Hub Transport, and select the E-mail Address Policies. View and modify (or add) the policy. When changing/creating a polilcy, you have the option to make the change for all new users (moving forward) or apply the change to all existing users. Consider your decision based upon if users are already emailing with the existing addresses. For Exchange 2003, open System manager, drill down into 'Recipeints', then 'Recipeint Policies'. Modify/Add the policy here. You don't need to change the server name. It is not relevant to the Exchange configuration. Jeremy Lawson

Hello Moe, You need toedit the default recipient policy and add/replace an smtp address for @companyname.com and make it as a primary so when user sends mail then it goes from @companyname.com. How to use recipient policies to control e-mail addresses in Exchange 2003 and in Exchange 2000 After you apply recipient policy then when Recipient Update Service (RUS) runs,it will add company.com email address for all users. Hi, To ensure Internet user could send the email company.com address, we need to properly configure your domain's MX Record that you should contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or the party responsible for hosting your DNS Domain name. Below article is the description of how to configure other domains on Exchange 2007 as your reference. http://www.petri.co.il/configure-exchange-2007-recieve-email-other-domains.htm Thanks Allen
