Is there a way when building email address policies that you can pull from an alternate user account field? For example we want to pull from the department field (we use a department code there) so the email address would be "user initials.department @ domain.com".

Hi, No Department is not a supported variable in that case. Though you can have a workaround by placing the Department field value in any of the allowed variables like FirstName, LastName, Middle initial, or Alias.
