Here is the message that the user gets when it is "Delayed":Reporting-MTA: dns;Server.office.Company.comFinal-Recipient: rfc822;User@hotmail.comAction: delayedStatus: 4.4.7Will-Retry-Until: Mon, 13 Oct 2008 20:43:42 -0500X-Display-Name: User (Usert@hotmail.com)All the addresses have been tested using other mail systems so we know they exist. We have also sent mail from these accoutns to accounts on our Exchange server and they come in fine.Is there a way to check and see if they are accepting mail from us?After a while the message comes back as undelivered.

okay more info, (for those of you keeping score at home)I can not Telnet to either Mail.msn.com or Mail.hotmail.com on port 25 from my Mail server. (I can from my pc so I know that what I am doing works)I turned on Medium Logging and when I send to Hotmail or MSN I get Event: 4006 Message delivery to the host '64.4.49.71' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'hotmail.com' for the following reason: The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt.Don't all speak at once but,Any Ideas? ThanksMoe

Hi Moe, Please run cmd nslookup q=mx hotmail.com first, you will see '64.4.49.71' is not a hotmail mail server address. So please check your DNS settings to see if there is something wrong. Please try to telnet hotmail at 65.54.244.136 to see if it works. If the issue persists, please let me know the last error message of queue where emails hang. Elvis,When I do an nslookup of hotmail.com I get the following:Non-authoritative answer:hotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx15.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx14.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx13.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx12.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx11.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx10.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx09.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx08.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx07.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx06.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx05.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx04.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx02.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx01.hotmail.commx15.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.232.71mx15.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.236.7mx14.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.232.7mx13.hotmail.com internet address = 64.4.50.71mx12.hotmail.com internet address = 64.4.50.7mx11.hotmail.com internet address = 64.4.49.199mx10.hotmail.com internet address = 64.4.49.135mx09.hotmail.com internet address = 64.4.49.71mx08.hotmail.com internet address = 64.4.49.7mx07.hotmail.com internet address = 64.4.42.7mx06.hotmail.com internet address = 64.4.55.7As you can see the address 64.4.49.71 is showing as an MX record and the address you gave me 65.54.244.136 does not show up. I can however telent into the address you gave me.So is my DNS wrong?**This problem has been with MSN and Hotmail, although for a brief time last night 2 messages that wher ein the queue for msn where delivered and now there is another msn message not going out.**

After writing my reply to you I decided to do an nslookup from my desktop of hotmail.com and got a completly seperate set of addresses. (one of which was the one that you gave above)So I changed the DNS of my exchange server to match what I have here at the office and it works like a champ. (my server is being hosted offsite at a different location)And now this is what I get.hotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx2.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx3.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx4.hotmail.comhotmail.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx1.hotmail.comhotmail.com nameserver = ns1.msft.nethotmail.com nameserver = ns2.msft.nethotmail.com nameserver = ns3.msft.nethotmail.com nameserver = ns4.msft.nethotmail.com nameserver = ns5.msft.netmx3.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.244.200mx3.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.245.72mx3.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.244.72mx4.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.245.104mx4.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.244.104mx4.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.244.232mx1.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.245.8mx1.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.244.8mx1.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.244.136mx2.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.244.40mx2.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.244.168mx2.hotmail.com internet address = 65.54.245.40ns5.msft.net internet address = 65.55.238.126ns1.msft.net internet address = 207.68.160.190ns2.msft.net internet address = 65.54.240.126ns3.msft.net internet address = 213.199.161.77ns4.msft.net internet address = 207.46.66.126Thanks for getting me thinking in the right direction.Moe
