Emails arrive in conflict folder after forwarding emails to 2nd email address
I have a user who has been receiving emails in the conflict folder instead of the inbox. He is using outlook 2007. He did not start receiving emails in the conflict folder until I set his address to forward a copy of all email to another email address (AD > User Properties > Exchange General > Delivery Options > Forward to). If I change it back to not forward, he stops receiving emails in the conflict folder. Any ideas? What am I doing wrong here?

Well, that's just weird. Have you looked (in detail) at the user's rules? Have you compared message headers to see if there are differences between mail that ends up in the Inbox and mail that ends up in the Conflicts folder? Missy

I had a similar circumstance; it turned out to be a semi-corrupt mailbox; i did a move-mailbox to another DB and it has been fine since. If it's a cached mode client you could also try blowing away the .osthttp://exchangedeepthoughts.blogspot.com

Hi, Try to enable “forward to” on another user’s properties and see the result. If the issue does not occur, the problem should reside in Outlook settings. Try to start Outlook with no rules mode: 1. On your user’s computer, Click start, click run, type in outlook.exe /CleanRules. 2. Then sending a email to him for testing. If the issue persists, re-creating the user’s email profile and see the result.

I created a second user account and mailbox on our server to have all his email forwarded to. He has a laptop that he takes home with him, in addition to his main computer at work, and he did not want a pop account setup with his main email address on the laptop he takes home. So I created the second user account and mailbox for him, and set all mail from his main account to forward to the newly created second email address. I setup outlook on the laptop he takes home (which uses a pop account for the second email address) to make it appear to send emails from his main email account. So when he sends emails from the take home laptop, they show up to the recipient as sent from his main email address, not the second one. Is that not an ok way to set it up? I've already tried doing away with the ost file by creating a new profile in outlook on his main computer. I will change it from being forwarded to his second email address, to my email address (which is on the same exchange server) to test if it will still put emails in his conflict folder.

Hi Ingrammusic, It's ok to do that. Does the problem persist when forwarding the mails to your email address? If it does not happen, I recommend you create a new email address and mailbox for your user.

Is there a reason that he couldn't simply use the laptop to connect to his existing mailbox instead of a secondary mailbox? Multiple machines can be set up to access a single mailbox.
