Emails dissapeared
Hi, A client of ours is running Exchange 2003. Suddenly event 9646 (Mapi session "/o=First Organization/ou=first administrative group/cn=Recipients/cn=Username" exceeded the maximum of 250 objects of type "objtMessage") popped up in eventviewer. Together with this event, the user which caused this lost all his emails between the time the event occured and the 20th of January from his inbox, other folders weren't affected. We solved the error by increasing the objtMessage entry in regedit. However, after increasing this value the emails did not reappear. We have already rebooted the server, closed all client connections (Outlook 2007), tried enabling and disabling caching but with no success. New emails are comming in fine and old emails before the 20th of January are still showing, only the ones between those given times dissapeared from the inbox. We've looked to recover the items from "removed items" but the emails weren't in the list. When looking in Exchange system manager we can see the account only has 2 open messages and 20 open folders, so I don't really get why the 9646 event occured in the first place. Could it be that the missing emails were being deleted all at a time when the event occured? (and thus exactly 250 emails). Thanks in advance

Lets do the message tracking to get more information on this...Whether the messages were actually delivered to the user mailbox or not. 9646 may cause the mailbox access but not the message delivery.
