I tried to connect using remote desktop to a server which is windows 2008 R2. Exchange 2007 is installed on it. ISA 2006 is used as a firewall. I could not access the server from client computers using remote desktop. I can access it from a computer which is with in the same subnet and which has windows server 2008 installed. But when i try to connect using another computers from diffrent subnet, i could not connect. I tried to connect to it from a 2003 server which is located within the same subnet as this server, but i could not connect. Can somebody help me.Dawit Tesfaye

No i can't ping or telnet RDP. I checked the firewall(on windows 2008, ISA 2006, and cisco asa) the ports are open for telnet and ping.Dawit Tesfaye

Hi, may be this is not the correct forum for this request, but it sounds to be a routing issue Make sure that Exchange server, and that workstations have a prober Gateway configured. Also, if ISA server route between the 2 subnets, make sure that rules allow RDP connections, and routes are configured correctly. btw, when you enabled remote desktop, did you chosed the secure mode or the less secure mode?Ibrahim Al Masry http://www.ibra.me/

Because you say that you are able to RDP from a windows2008 server to the Exchange server in a same subnet. I will suggest you look into the windows 2003 server first so you don't need consider the routing issue. If the firewall has turned on, try turn it off on exchange server. Also, one more thing you can check is if Vlan has been set up between these servers. Hope this will help you narrow down the issue Eric OK Tire

tracert is a great tool to use if you are having routing issues, will tell you at what hop the request is dieing. I assume since you have different subnets that you have some sort of router or layer 3 switch in place to route traffic between subnets. There could be a wrong routing statement, or you may need to setup an external IP address so the Exchange server is able to be accessed remotely.
