Error Message when attempting to install Exchange 2007 Management Tools
Receiving this error message when attempting to install the Exchange Management Tools from the media that I installed on my Exchange Server. I have Gigabytes of available space on a Win 7 Ultimate x64 machine. Anything I might've missed? Thanks in advance.

That's weird, it's talkng about installing Windows and not the tools, are you sure you're using the Exchange 2010 source files?Sukh

I don't have the most typical setup unfortunately. The Exchange 2007 media I have is part of EBS (Essential Business Server) which MS killed off not long after its release in 2008. The disk I'm trying to install this from is labeled as Messaging Server Installation. I may have just answered my own question by realizing that the OS and Exchange are probably combined on this disk. Any thoughts on where I can go from here? Do I need to download this entire copy of Exchange just to get the management tools? (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?;displaylang=en&id=9461) How does the licensing work if I'm just using the management tools? Thank you

That's a VHD file. What I would do is, make sure you're running at least SP3 for Exch 2007. Then use the SP3 source media and install only the management tools on your PC. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232090(v=exchg.80).aspx http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555841 Sukh

Thanks for the help. Got everything going but now I come to find out that the Exchange Management Console cannot be installed on Windows 7 Ultimate. Edit: This may be different for SP3. I'm currently running Exchange SP2. Need to upgrade Exchange and then I'll try again at a later date.

Supported version are in that link I posted. This says Windows 7 is included but not the edition. I can't test Win 7 Ultimate for you just yet http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=11876 It may be that you haven't upgraded to SP3 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproappcompat/thread/5809010c-977b-478f-84e1-44448737830cSukh

I also found this article stating that SP3 is required for Windows 7: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/708f3eda-71ed-408e-9f51-3a2a46ed6f8f Thank you for your time.
