Error running get-storagegroupcopystatus cmd.
Exchange 2007SP1 - Rollup 3 (32 bit)
Hi All,
I get a the below error when I run the get-storagegroupcopystatus command on my passive node in a CCR envirnoment (test lab):
Get-StorageGroupCopyStatus : Microsoft Exchange Replication service RPC failed: Microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.RpcException: Error 721 from cli_GetCopyStatusEx at Microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.RpcClientBase.ThrowRpcException(Int32 rpcStatus, String routineName) at Microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.Cluster.ReplayRpcClient.GetCopyStatusEx(Guid[] sgGuids, RpcStorageGroupCopyStatus[]& sgStatuses) at Microsoft.Exchange.Cluster.Replay.ReplayRpcClientWrapper.InternalGetCopyStatus(String serverName, Guid[] sgGuids, RpcStorageGroupCopyStatus[]& sgStatuses, Int32 serverVersion)At line:1 char:26+ Get-StorageGroupCopyStatus <<<<
If I run Get-StorageGroupCopyStatus -StandbyMachine "Passive node Server Name"
It works fine.
Also when running the Test-ReplicationHealth command on the passive node I get:
Test-ReplicationHealth : Microsoft Exchange Replication service RPC failed : Microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.RpcException: Error 721 from cli_GetCopyStatusEx at Microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.RpcClientBase.ThrowRpcException(Int32 rpcStatus, String routineName) at Microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.Cluster.ReplayRpcClient.GetCopyStatusEx(Guid[] sgGuids, RpcStorageGroupCopyStatus[]& sgStatuses) at Microsoft.Exchange.Cluster.Replay.ReplayRpcClientWrapper.InternalGetCopyStatus(String serverName, Guid[] sgGuids, RpcStorageGroupCopyStatus[]& sgStatuses, Int32 serverVersion)At line:1 char:22+ Test-ReplicationHealth <<<<
Yet these commands work perfectly fine on the Active node. I've tested failing-over to the passive node and it works but I'm at a loss as to why I can't run these comamnds.
Is it becuase I'm running the 32 bit version of Exchange 2007?
Thanks for you time and help.

Hi,
Please compare the permissions on the LocalMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers\winreg between the two nodes. Verify whether any difference?
Thanks

Hi Allen,Thanks for the reply, I've checked both reg settings and both appear to be the same. I've also verfied security / permissions and both are domain admins, enterprise admin, etc...

Hi, we have the same issues,so we alsocheck the registry and both machines has no differences. But, in our case, the RPC problem occurs after a few hours, so i think it's not a registry problem. So now we are checking the arp cache to increase the cache lifetime to 4 hours as recommended in Planning for Cluster Continuous Replication.
