Event ID 1159: Database error
HiI was looking through our Exchange 2003 Event Log and noticed quite a few of these errors all at the same time for a couple of days ago:Event ID 1159 (Error)Database error 0xfffffd9a occurred in function JTAB_BASE::EcUpdate while accessing the database "Storage Group 1\Mailbox Store 1 (exchmbx1)"There is also Event ID: 1025 (Warning) every now and then during the same time.An error occurred on database "Storage Group 1\Mailbox Store 1 (exchmbx1)".Function name or description of problem: EcGenerateNDR: Error: 0xfffff9bf Bizarrely, the errors then ceased. Any ideas as to what they mean?

Sounds like:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905801"The information store is dismounted, and an event ID 1159 message is logged in Exchange Server 2003 or in Exchange 2000 Server"

Yep, that was the cause it seems. There is information in the link below on how to create a performance monitor to monitor the Checkpoint depth, but do you know if there is a way to generate an Event ID (or if there is one already) when the number of uncomitted log files reaches a certain number? We have a monitoring tool that can send a page if a certain Event ID is generated.

I suspect the only event will be that ID 1159. You'll need to also figure out what it happened. Something was glueing up the commit process.

I agree with Andy.we need to audit event 1159 from event viewer.Besides,if you are using Operation Manager, then we can set threshold on Log Generation Checkpoint Depthto generate alert.ESE Log Generation Checkpoint Depth - Yellow(>1000) - Edge Transporthttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb217366.aspxRegards,Xiu
