Getting this error on Exchange 2013 CU2:

The description for Event ID 5 from source MSExchange Workload Management cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.The following information was included with the event:

MdbLatency(database_name)

the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

After researching the issue a bit, I found 2 similar registry settings that existed with almost the same name:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application\MSExchange Workload Management

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application\MSExchange WorkloadManagement

The first key has a reference to EventLogMessages.dll while the second key has references to Microsoft.Exchange.Data.WorkloadManagement.EventLogs.dll and Microsoft.Exchange.WorkloadManagement.EventLogs.dll. After following these paths, I see that one of the files does not exist in the location specified, nor does it exist on the server at all. The file in question is: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.WorkloadManagement.EventLogs.dll

Question is, any idea why there's 2 similar key names in the registry, why the file might be missing or how to restore it? This was originally a clean RTM install, then CU1, then the 2nd release of CU2 was installed most recently. Several things broke in between the upgrades, all of which I was able to resolve with some research. This is one lingering issue I cannot seem to resolve. Any help would be appreciated.

I only have 1 Exchange 2013 server.

I would also like to know if both registry entries need to be there or if they need to be merged or if one needs to be renamed, deleted etc. Maybe someone with a Server 2012 and a similar install/update history as me can check their registry and see if both exist.

Can someone check their Exchange 2013 installation for the following file and see if it exists:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Bin\res\Microsoft.Exchange.Data.WorkloadManagement.EventLogs.dll

If it exists on your system please reply. I'd also like to find a way to obtain it since I can't find it in any of the installation packages rtm, cu1, or cu2.

I have the file. but also I have the such problem

Exchange 2013 CU2

I am receiving the same event log error on my clean Exchange 2013 CU2 install.  The DLL "Microsoft.Exchange.Data.WorkloadManagement.EventLogs.dll" referenced in the registry key doesn't exist on my install either.

Anyone feel like uploading the missing file somewhere for download? Hopefully Microsoft is OK with this or provides another solution. However, the response above shows that even with the file present, the error described in my first post may still persist, so replacing the file may not be the actual solution here.

I also get this error about five times a day. I have Exchange 2013 CU2v2 installed. I do not have this dll in the Exchange bin folder.

I have the same experience, did you solve it? 

I think that it can be because of first bad install of Exchange server, than I had to uninstall it and reinstall.

Any suggestions?

And it  appeared after i did migration from koex. Exchange 2007 in organization.
