ExMerge Created Unusable 2GB PST files
I used the ExMerge utility to export my email out of my mailbox on our exchange server into PST files. I used the option "Archive Data to target store". The description for this option basically says it will copy the data to a PST and then delete from the
source store. This is exactly what I wanted as we were running critically low on space. My intent was to create a seperate PST for each year of email that I had. So I did the first year and it created a 2GB file. I figured it was done so I did the next year.
It was almost the exact same size which I thought was odd. So I tried to open the PST to find that it's unreadable. I see now that the tool has a 2GB limit. That's fine....I just didn't expect it to leave me with unreadable PST files.
The email was deleted from the Source and the resulting PST appears to be unopenable. My question....my hope is that there is a way to get the email out of these PSTs? Any ideas? Thank you!!

If the source mailbox is larger than 2 GB, then you'll end up with an unusable PST file when the maximum size is exceeded. You can break up the export by specifying date ranges or separate folders so that no one export results in a PST file greater
than 2 GB.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

There's a quite famous VB script that might help you. Note: Glen Scales, the original developer, himself refers to the update.

Neither of you answered my question. I did find the answer however.

If that's good enough for you, that's fine. However, you will very likely find that not all the data has been exported and you will find that I indeed answered your question.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
