please forgive me if this is posted elsewhere. I'm trying to import a pst file that was created when a user left the company now they are back and looking for their emails. Everything seems to be running ok until I get this error message below. i've checked and rechecked permissions etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated? I've been messing with this for a week now. Hi, Well I think you should use some 3rd party tools for it or even you can use outlook for this as well. How to use outlook. 01. connect outlook to exchange 2003. 02. enable cache mode on outlook. 03. make PST from there (tools are available for this) I hope this will help you. Regards. Hi PRYKE, Since the pst file is 2.4G, the pst file format should be Unicode, but the ExMerge tool does not support Unicode .pst files. Do you have Exchange 2007 server in the organization? If yes, you can use Export-Mailbox to import pst mails to mailbox. As Shafaquat said, you can also attach pst file to Outlook, then manually move mails from pst to mailbox.Frank Wang

Hi, Repair a 2GB Outlook Personal Folder using this utility. http://www.slipstick.com/problems/repair2gbpst.htm The above utility will trimmed off some data and restore PST to a working file. Installing Outlook 2003 does not get rid of 2 GB limit (actually it is 1.97 GB). You have to create an Outlook 2003 PST file in unicode format, which does not have the 2 GB limit. Once you get your old PST file working, create a new Outlook 2003 PST file in unicode format. Then drag the emails and contacts from old PST file to new PST file. I hope this will help you. Regards. If you only have one PST then your least expensive option will be to attach the PST to Outlook and then Drag and Drop the data into the desired mailbox. If you want a great 3rd party tool to do this then you should check out Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp since it can handle ANSI and Unicode PST files. However again if its just a single PST you can easily accomplish this via Outlook, without the need for a third party product Open Outlook File/Open/Outlook Data File Point to the PST PST will be mounted in Outlook as a Personal Data file Expand out the newly mounted PST Drag and Drop to the desired location. NOTE: you can do the above when logged in as the desired user with rights to their mailbox OR if you have full administrator access you can open other users mailboxes from within Outlook. Tools/Options/Mail Setup/E-Mail Accounts -- Double Click the name name attached to the Exchange account / More Settings/ Advanced Tab/ Add in the user names mailboxes desired. OK on all dialogs and now you have access into those mailboxes as well. Sorry, I neglected to see that Outlook was telling you the PST was too big. The problem is that ExMerge only supports the creation of ANSI PST files which have a 2GB limit so that PST you have is corrupt since the size limit was overrun. You might be able to repair it but you will lose data since the hard stop is 2GB and every time I have seen it extend past the limit the data is mangled. To overcome the 2GB PST LIMIT issue you would need to use a third party tool like Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp to export the data to a UNICODE PST which can support PST files up to 20GB. DigiScope has a project based license for $ 375 which is meant for situations like this HOWEVER, the one caveat I see here is that this PST file you generated was done in the past, therefore if the EDB is no longer available then your hooped unless you have a backup of the EDB before deleting his/her account. If so then you can recover the raw EDB to disk and use DigiScope to crack it open on as little as an XP desktop i.e. no need to recover the EDB to the Exchange server, we just need the raw EDB file (and logs if available) Once opened, you can Browse, Search, Export to PST, MSG or XML or Recover the desired data directly back into the production Exchange Server.
