ExPDA issues
Some thoughts on the Exchange Pre-Deployment Analyzer:When I first run it (on a Windows 7 PC or the Windows 2008 Exchange server), and try to check for updates, it says "An error occurred while trying to access the Web." Has anyone else had this problem? As far as I can tell, the app doesn't need to run elevated (which is good), but it does need domain admin privileges to connect to the Active Directory server (which makes sense). However, the app doesn't make this obvious. If I run it on my PC with my standard account, and don't show the advanced login options, it says:"No Exchange administrative groups were found in the organization."If I show the advanced login options, and enter my credentials with "example.com" as the domain name, it says:"Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."If I change the domain name to "EXAMPLE" (i.e. the pre-Windows 2000 name), it says:"A more secure authentication method is required for this server."I'm not sure of the specific problem here, but it might be because I require LDAP signing (i.e. this app might be doing unsigned stuff). So, the only way to get it working on my desktop PC is to run the app as domain admin. This isn't a major problem, just something to be aware of.

Oh yes, and one other thing: when I select a new scan, both Exchange servers are selected by default. One is inside my domain, and the other (edge transport server) is in a DMZ. When I view the report, it says "Exchange server registry cannot be accessed" for the edge transport server, which is fair enough. However, if I try a new scan, and uncheck the box for the ET server, I still get the same issue in the report. So, apparently it ignores the checked/unchecked boxes, and just tries to scan everything.

I just downloaded the tool and am getting the "update error" also.
I'm running W7-64, and I am a domain admin also ...
Also, when I try to print a report, the application (at the bottom of the window) gives an "external component has thrown an exception" message, and it NEVER prints.

Any update on the thrown exception issue? I have a huge report of issues to review and would very much like to print it so it is easier to review/scribble on.

Did anyone ever find a resolution to the "External component has thrown an exception" trying to print the ExPDA report on Windows 7?
