Excel 2003, Saving File Changes Hyperlink Path

Hello!

I am experiencing a bug with Excel that affects hyperlinks that are linking to files on a networked drive.

Whenever the file is opened and a link is updated or changed to point to a different directory/file, the link immediately works. But after saving the file, the links that were pointing to the location:

file:///\\server\ACT\ACT\WORK ORDERS\Completed\2013\*

are now pointing to

file:///C:\Documents and Settings\USERACCOUNT\Local Settings\Temp\2013\*

(In this file all links are pointing inside of the \2013 directory)

After saving the file, if I close the file and reopen it the links revert back to the path that was specified before the save broke the link.

My guess is this only because the paths to the files on the networked drives are relative and upon saving the file is being written to/from a temp folder on the system drive?

Is there a fix for this? It isn't necessarily a crippling problem, just annoying and potentially problematic.

Thanks for the help!
