I have tried the 2 solutions I found here, but they really don't pertain.  I don't have to scroll mouse or anything else.  The crash occurs when Print Preview is opened.  The page can be seen, but then Excel crashes and closes. This also occurs in Excel Safe Mode Occurs on 50 other computers on the network with the same image I've repaired and reinstalled Office with no change - still occurs. Try changeing the printer driver to something generic, like Microsoft XPS Document Writer, does the problem still occur. If not, then the issue is your printer driver, try upgrading. If the problem occurs with a generic driver, then write back here with a list of other applications you have open.

I am having the exact same issue except I am on Windows 64-bit.  I have tried changing to multiple printers on our network as well as to a pdf writer and still get the same error.  As previously mentioned, this is occurring on all of our machines running 64-bit Win7 with Office 2007.  It only happens in Excel, the other applications work.  It would be great if someone was able to find a solution.

All I can suggest is to turn off other programs, then stop services, one-by-one until Excel print preview does not crash.

Thanks, Ed, but I could have come up with that one myself.  Hopefully I'm not the only one who experiences this behavior and eventually someone will respond with something a little more specific.  Until then I'd rather not mark that this has been answered.

Having the same problem on 900 computers in my school district.  I requested office-kb2598032-fullfile-x86-glb.exe from Microsoft.  Problem got better (takes longer before Excel crashes), but not a 100% fix.  Anyone else find a solution?

Same deal...excel crashes when trying to preint preview....only started about a month ago.......maybe caused by a MS update? Basically excel is usless....at moment..

So I think we've established that it is not specific to my setup.  (Windows 7 32-bit Professional on ethernet server using Windows Server 2003.  I see it is also happening in the 64-bit version.  Hopefully someone (or I) will stumble upon a fix or MS will issue another update.

I assume that you have the Smartboard addin for Excel.  Check your com add-ins and disable the Smartboard add-in.  We are unsure how to resolve this issue but believe that we have the same problem and this was our finding.  Please confirm if this helps with your situation.

Disabling the Smart Ink add-in worked for me.

To View/Manage your add-ins

Click the Office button, choose Excel Options.  On the left choose Add-Ins.  Down at the bottom is an option to Manage your add-ins.  Click the drop-down and select COM add-ins.  Uncheck anything Smart related and click Ok.

I exited and restarted Excel and it worked.

I've been searching for a solution (office 7) excel was crashing in print preview anytime I moved the mouse ... I went in and disabled the SMART add-in and all is now working.  The term SMART products seems to be oxymoronic as I"ve had lots of issues with my SMART software - and no response EVER from the company.  I use the board in my classroom daily - (physics teacher) and find there could be many MANY cool ways to use the board - but no response from SMART on any requests for features - even ones as simple as being able to manipulate an arrow without fear of it resizing.  THe workaround was figured out by a student - ad a "dot" of digital ink to the tail - group the dot and the arrow - and now it can be rotated and moved ... anyway I digress.
