Excel 2013 when opening a file is blank but it has hidden data

We're on a Excel 2013 on windows 7 x64

When double clicking an excel file from desktop/my documents or opening an excel file from outlook, the file is blank but it does contain data when printed. The only way for us to make the data show is by going to View->Arrange All->Tiled the data will show but if you close and reopen again it's blanked again, we have over over 200 spreadsheets like that. How can we fix it?

Tried doing the online repair and still does not solve the problem. All Add-ins are disabled. Unhide feature is also greyed out.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi, Please let us know what was the original Office version of those excel files. Excel 2010, Excel 2007 or even Excel 2003. Did you try to open and convert into Excel 2013 Format? Do you have the same issue if you create a new Excel 2013 file, save it, close it and reopen it?

Hello Thanks for your reply,

Original office 2013 Home and Business. If we create from a new document and save and reopen it's fine, it's just the original documents that was created before or emailed that was save in 97-2003 format

Hi,

From your description, this issue may be caused by the compatibility issue between Office 2013 and Office 97-2003 format. Thus, I recommend you convert the file to Excel 2013 format.

Steps: To convert the document without saving a copy, click Info, and then click Convert.

Hi George, Before we never had a problem, and when we open excel attachments in outlook, it's also blank.

Hi,

I suppose this issue may be caused by the DDE option. Please try to turn off it to test:

1.Click the File tab, and then click Options.
2.Click Advanced, scroll down to the General section, and then clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) check box in the General area.
3.Click OK.
