Excel opening network file error

Hello,

I was directed here from community.office365.com and was hoping that you can help me with an excel issue that I'm having.

Some users are having issues when they open up an excel document that is on our network.  It'll pop up with one or two blank errors and the file will open up and act normally and the users will be able to edit and save the file without any problems.  It's just the errors popping up at the beginning is annoying.

Users are running the newest version of Office 365 desktop application (Excel 2013).  I've uninstalled/reinstalled office suite. I've ran quick/full repairs, and I've updated the nic driver thinking it might be a nic issue, but still no luck.  If the user open an excel file that is local on their desktop, it'll open without any errors.

Any one have any ideas?

Thanks.

Phong

EDIT: Well, I can't link pictures or insert pictures, so I can't show you what the error looks like.  But it is just a small white error box with nothing in it but a red circle with a white X.

Hi RPAPhong,

id you get the error messages as shown in the following figure?

If yes, I would like to ask several questions about this issue.

1. Did this issue only occur in a particular file? Or did it occur with all shared Excel files?

2. Could you tell me the format of your Excel file? .xlsx, .xls or other file format?

3. After canceling the error box did you get any other pop-up error messages?

Based on your description, you have tried several methods and this issue only appeared in the network
environment.

If this issue only appears in a particular file, I suggest you recreate a new Excel file with the same content, and check if it works fine in a new Workbook.

Please check the antivirus software in your environment at the same time, and try to disable it.

After trying these methods if the issue still exists, try to collect the event log messages and send the event log messages to our email address:
ibsofc@microsoft.com
Please Note: Please add the URL of the case in the email subject or body.

Maybe I can get more information from event log messages, I'm glad to help and follow up your reply.
