Exch 07, SBS 2008 - NDR's on Internal Emails
We were recently forced to upgrade to Exch 2007 on a SBS 2008 box. There is no other exchange running. It seems that randomly when a client selects a internal contact through outlook 2007 - the address and description are garbled under properties (although the display shows the proper name) and a NDR is issued with error 5.1.1. I have found some discussion on this in the exchange knowledgebase and a possible fix is mentionedin rollup #4 - but there is nothing in regards to the SBS and we have installed all the current updates. I do not believe that you can run the exchange rollups on an SBS box - only the SBS updates? The funny thing is it is random...It does not happen on all selections in a distribution....also this can be avoided if the client reviews the addresses before sending...it appears that the fields from the address database are not imported into the email correctly.Has someone come accross this and found a fix?

I have found that this has nothing to do with Exchange 2007 at all and that it has to do with the Outlook 2007. There is something wrong with how your email contact addresses have been stored previously when you were using Exchange 2003 in the NK2 file. I deleted this file on all of my client PCs and have not received another 5.1.1 error since. If you need to find the location of this file for deletion, please check out this article on Outlook 2007 File Locations.
