I recieve the following errror when the install tries to install the mailbox role: error code was 3238230410 message was An internal component has failed after that the install fails and it doesnt install the UM role. Any ideas on this one? Thanks,

I've experienced several issues during installs. The lastest bout, I ended up installing the Mailbox role first separate from everything else, and then I was able to install the other roles. Can you try performing a reinstall (Control Panel, Modify) and re-selecting only the Mailbox role? I also had an issue where the first time around installing the MBX role, none of the services were installed, but they were added the second time. Ben

I cant even get exchange 2007 to uninstall properly. I was forced to reload the OS. (2003 x64) and try to re-install Exchange 2007 again. Same problem. I may have to re-install the OS again and try your suggestion.Thanks,

make sure the O/S has the SP1 installed also if this server had an earlier exchange version running on it then we have to remove that from the Tree. Probably try installing Exch v7 on a fresh machine

This is a clean install of Windows 2003 server x64 edition. The server is a DC in a new AD domain. The OS is patched and clean with IIS and Monad installed as well as .NET 2.0 The install goes fine until the mailbox roll attempts to install. Then the system shows the following error: An error occurred. error code was 3238230410 message was An internal component has failed. This error happens about 15 seconds after the mailbox role starts to install. Any ideas on this one? Thanks,

Can you post the appropriate logs (exchangesetup.log), theyshould be in %SystemDrive%\ExchangeSetupLogs. Don't have to post everything, just the [Error] entries and the lines before setup logs that it exited. You should be able to search for the error code in the logs too. Thanks, ~vivek

I am seeing this same issue on my install I was however able to uninstall but could not get it to install with just the mailbox role and it died in the same place
