Exchange/Outlook 2003 Mailbox permissions?
Hi,I know that Exchange 2003 initially had a problem of randomly assigning access to mailboxes that don't belong to the user when it first came out - see the link below. http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/originalContent/0,289142,sid14_gci938649,00.htmlDoes anyone know if this still is an issue? Can a user's computer try to or successfully access other people's mailboxes without the owner knowing about it? If Exchange is not the problem, what could possibly be the cause? Thanks!

Thats a 3 year old article and referred to OWA, not Outlook 2003. It sounds like you have a specific question or issue that you are trying to address?

Certainly it can. It happens all the time when permissions in Active Directory are set too loosely. The people who report that problem rarely confess exactly how they managed to getthe permission so messed up, though. I can't say that I blame them.

Thank you, Sue. That answers my question - I'm not sure what or who caused the problem, either.

Which is a different than a bug or "problem" within Exchange or Active Directory.
Most likely someone messed aroundand did something similar to :http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;821897
