Exchange07 install/BPA fails on DC OS ver 5.0 (2195)
Hello all - I'm struggling trying to get past an install error on 07 stating : Setup encountered a problem while vallidating the state of Active Directory: Domain Contoller ' brserver.xxx.com' Operating System version is 5.0 2195 SP4. The minimum version required is 5.2 3790 SP1. I thought Exchange 07 was compatible with 2000 Domain Controllers? I've run the PrepareLegacy, PrepareSchema, and PrepareAD succussfully but only by specifying the a different DC with the /dc: switch. The 2000 DC is no longer a GC although it was at one time - as recent as last week. I've found the work around of specifyinga specific DC usingthe command line setup with the needed switches - for example: setup /mode:install /domaincontrollerervername /roles:ht,ca,mb,mt /enablelegacyoutlook But I'm also reading that although that will allow you to move on with the install, moving mailboxes down the road will not work for the same reason. Has anyone encountered this and gotten past it? Thanks!

Hi, I setup a lab something similar to then environment you are talking about here & found that everything functioned pretty much alright (no major setbacks) provided Iremembered to add the /dc:gc.domain.local to the end of all my powershell commands when executing the same. I quite like the functionality & feel given by powershell and therefore never got around to testing the same functions from the GUI, this may present you with some different results. Again, this was in a LAB environment so it may / may not perform the same for you in production. My advice would be get rid of the 2000 DC's as quickly & cleanly as possible, you will only reap rewards from doing so.
