Exchange2007: Performance Counters Errors (MSExchange Common)
I constantly receive 'MSExchange Common' errors (Category: General, EventID: 106) in the Application Log of the Exchange 2007 Server (Mailbox, CAS, Hub): Event Type:ErrorEvent Source:MSExchange CommonEvent Category:General Event ID:106Date:6/29/2007Time:1:56:30 PMUser:N/AComputer:NASDescription:Performance counter updating error. Counter name is Successful Submissions, category name is MSExchangeMailSubmission. Optional code: 2. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Event Type:ErrorEvent Source:MSExchange CommonEvent Category:General Event ID:106Date:6/29/2007Time:1:24:21 PMUser:N/AComputer:NASDescription:Performance counter updating error. Counter name is Number of Mailboxes Left to Crawl, category name is MSExchange Search Indices. Optional code: 2. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Event Type:ErrorEvent Source:MSExchange CommonEvent Category:General Event ID:106Date:6/29/2007Time:1:22:16 PMUser:N/AComputer:NASDescription:Performance counter updating error. Counter name is DataRow seeks total, category name is MSExchangeTransport Database. Optional code: 2. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Event Type:ErrorEvent Source:MSExchange CommonEvent Category:General Event ID:106Date:6/29/2007Time:12:57:19 PMUser:N/AComputer:NASDescription:Performance counter updating error. Counter name is Current Users, category name is MSExchange OWA. Optional code: 3. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. The list is endless. I have found out that there are some Registry entries missing (e.g. check at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb217939.aspx). Additionally, when I open the performance monitor tool, I do not see the perfmon counters description but, rather, just a list of numbers. Workarounds welcome. Thanks in advance, YP

For the record, I resolved this issue running the following command from c:\windows\system32\: lodctr /R More information about this can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300956/en-us(How to manually rebuild Performance Counter Library values).
