Exchange 2000 and the Authenticated Users group
Hi,
I came across an issue at a client site today where they had given the Authenticated Users group full access at the store level in ESM.They were trying to figure out why all users could access anyone's mailbox, and after some research i concluded this was probably the reason. However, I wouldnt mind someone with some 2k experience confirming this, as my 2k knowledge is a bit poor.
So to confirm, Authenticated users at mailstore level had full mailbox access, could this be the reason users can simply open any mailbox in the org? (I did check all other security settings, and group membershipon the exchange admin groups, these all seem to be correct). The only thing that seemed out of place to me was this particular groups rights.
Thanks in advance

I would say this definitely is your problem, I cant remember the exact permission settings in E2k but know that in E2k3 authenticated users does not feature at all on the security tab of the storage groups.
I am pretty certain 2k would have similar settings so you should be able to remove this group from the security permissions to resolve their problem without causing any major damage
