Exchange 2000 replacement questions
I am replacing my exchange 2000 server with a new 2007 server. I have the new 2007 server installed and operational and have moved a few test mailboxes to the new server. Of course the new server is installed with a differnet IP and name from my existing operational 2000 server in my AD. Question is once I move all the mailboxes over to the new server can I just shutdown the 2000 box and rename and reIP the 2007 box with the 2000 values and bring it back online or do I have to go thru new MX records and DNS updates? Thanks, Mark

You cannot rename your Exchange server as it will not function anymore You might look at this article because Exchange 2007 support Database portability but this is not recommended for your situation http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123954.aspx Deli
