Exchange 2000 system manager does not update mailbox size and total items after deleting the messages from the server
Hi,
We have exchange 2000 server with 20 mailboxes.The thing what we have noticed is that system manager does not update the size and total number of messages when the messages are deleted or poped from the server.
i.e we open exchange system manager administrative groups--> servers--> my server name-->-->first administrative group-->first storage group-->mailbox store-->mailboxes
here i can see all the users mailboxes with the size of the mailbox the number of items last looged on by and last logged on time.
When a user receives a new mail the size of the mailbox and the number of messages column gets updated.now suppose a user pops(downloads) the mail from the server the mailbox size and the number of messages column doesnt get updated as i can see the same old mailbox size and number of items.
When the user login to OWA link i.e http://hostname of my server/exchange
he could not see any mails on the server.
Please let me know why the server is not updating the mailbox size and the number of items column when the messages are deleted but it updates these column when a new mail is received by the server.
Regards,
Tushar

The values you see in system manager are not allways very correct
You can update the correct numbers by doing an offline defrag
