I am in the process of setting up a Front End -> Back End Server Topology. Our back end server works fine, it is in a cluster, people connect using http://<backendservername>/exchange. I am trying to setup the simplest frontend configuration to start with, the default http virtual server has the same name as the one on the backend server, i try and connect using http://<frontendservername>/exchange and I get an "http 404 error - page cannot be found". the first part of my troubleshooting has led me to find that the properties of the back end server's virtual server has the exchange path set to public folders and not (as i would expect) mailboxes for smtp domain. what does this setting represent? can it be changed online? and does anyone think this setting is preventing my front end server from working?? any help would be gratefully appreciated.
