Exchange 2003 - removing public folder replica
Hi, I have a server that only holds Public Folder data that is to be retired.the hierarchy of Public Folders is huge. What is the best and least user affecting method of removing the "old" server from a PF replication perspective? Regards, fizzmo

If the Data is Already Replicated over Dismount your 2003 and verify all the data is replicated successfully. You can use scripts to move replicas or use PFdavadmin - refer the below link http://careexchange.in/moving-public-folders-from-exchange-2003-to-exchange-2010/Satheshwaran Manoharan | Exchange 2003/2007/2010 | Blog:http://www.careexchange.in | Please mark it as an answer if it really helps you

Thanks, but at this time we are stuck on Exchange 2003 level. All users are pointed to the new London Exchange server for public folders, so I know all data has been replicated accross. At this stage I am thinking of either using the ESM wizard to "modify list of replicas | remove Server" OR us PFDAVAdmin. My issue is I have 3 days to do this and a huge PF structure, hence "whats the best approach.." Thanks Fizzmo

You can use Both. I love PFDAVadmin personally. Cause we could understand what we exactly do and to understand the happenings/ ======= Both the Servers are in the same administrative group or Different ? Hi I recommend ESM wizard. I dont know how huge of your pf structure. PFdavadmin may be faster than ESM wizard. TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Terence Yu TechNet Community Support

Hi, Satheshwaran - yes all server are in the same admin group. Terence - I am leaning toward ESM wizard as fool proof approach. The PF structure is very large and 200GB in size, so my approach will be to do little bits at a time. Fizzmo

Please be carefull in Adding replicas Do not add replicas in one shot It will create a PF storm === Add replicas for Folder by folder - Proceed slowly Satheshwaran Manoharan | Exchange 2003/2007/2010 | Blog:http://www.careexchange.in | Please mark it as an answer if it really helps you

Hi If you enjoy using pfdavadmin, please add it one by one. It will be very hard to troubleshoot if your add all replicas at same time.Terence Yu TechNet Community Support

Hi Guys, Thanks for the feedback. I am "Removing" the old server using ESM wizard and doing it folder by folder to avoid any unwanted traffic. Fizzmo
