Exchange 2003 Active Synch Issues
Hi All
I know this is a legacy issue, but don't know where else to ask and i am running out of ideas!
Server 2003
Exchange 2003 SP 2
Go Daddy Certificate
Webmail working fine for all users
Using the testexchangeconnectivity.com tool for active synch tests we are getting passed all the steps except the final step:
Attempting the FolderSync command on the Exchange ActiveSync session.
The test of the FolderSync command failed.
Exchange ActiveSync returned an HTTP 500 response.
We have reset all of the virtual directories as per instructions under "Method 2" of this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883380
We have also tried creating a "exchange-oma" directory as per method 2 here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379
We have also tried to disable form based authentication, and this has not helped.
No matter what we try we are still getting the HTTP 500 Response from the exchange tests!
Would really appreciate any further help on this as we are at a bit of a loss!
Thanks in advance!
Ben Weinberg

No one can connect or just some users? Can you check...
Integrated Windows Authentication may not be enabled on the back-end server's "/Exchange" virtual directory.Make sure that inherit permissions is checked on the users account in ADUC, security tab, advanced.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

No one can connect. There is only the one server, so not a backend/front end situation.
I have checked the Inherit permissions in AD and its ticked.
Thanks for the help so far.Ben Weinberg

Few more questions since this is generic error, why did it stop working? Was any other sites installed on IIS? Were any permissions changed to any file systems for Exchange\bin? What changes did you make recently any https redirection? Run EXBPA to see if
it flags anything configuration issues in IIS.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Hi Ban,
I would suggest you check the IIS log for the detailed error code.
Meanwhile, check the IIS related service and reboot the server to have a try.
