Exchange 2003 Dist Group Member Not Receiving Email
Hi Jim, I have some suggestion: 1 Moving the use out of the group and moveing it back. 2 Browsing the DL from outlook and check whether the use are in the group. It might have some cache. 3 The Distribution Group was set to Domain Local, we changed it to universal. Change the group type from Security to Distribution.Rowen TechNet Community Support

Thanks for the ideas, Rowen. I browsed the DL in Outlook and found that she was not on the delivery list, so I removed her from the group and then added her back in and voila! She's back in business. I did not have to even try changing the group type. Thanks again for your help! JIM

I’m running Exchange Server 2003, SP2, and I have a user who is part of a security group that includes all users in the domain – about 20 users – kind of your basic “everyone” group. I have one user who does not receive internal email from messages addressed to this group, and am attempting to troubleshoot the issue. I’ve checked the permissions for the group and the “authentication” checkbox is not checked. The User properties are identical to those of other users in the domain that are successfully receiving emails addressed to the group. Anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

What does message tracking show? That will tell you what Exchange has done with the message. If all other members of the group get the message then there is a good chance the message is being delivered and something is happening with the message in the mailbox client side. All the other members are receiving the message. The missing user's name is not even on the delivery list. It appears that the server is stuck attempting to deliver the message, there is a long list of "smtp: message scheduled to retry local delivery" messages, as well as "smtp: message delivered locally to.... (name of our archive mailbox)".
