Exchange 2003 ESE Defrag event ID 705 sub code -614
Trying to track down a cause for an error. The datastore just seemed to go offline at some point. Specifically, I am looking to find what error code -614 means. Around midnight, leading up to this event an ESE backup started and 2 minutes later a defrag started. A couple hours later Exchange stopped responding and had database errors. Looking at history of events normal action if a backup is started the defragmentation of the same database is stopped which was not shown during this event. (many of these until service restored by mounting db and restarting services) Event Source: MSExchangeIS Event Category: General Event ID: 1159 Date: 7/28/2012 Time: 3:27:03 AM Description: Database error 0xfffffd9a occurred in function JTAB_BASE::EcSetColumn while accessing the database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (EXCHANGE1)". Event Source: ESE Event Category: Online Defragmentation Event ID: 705 Date: 7/28/2012 Time: 3:27:07 AM Description: Information Store (1104) First Storage Group: Online defragmentation of database 'D:\mdbdata\pub1.edb' terminated prematurely after encountering unexpected error -614. The next time online defragmentation is started on this database, it will resume from the point of interruption. There were no SYSTEM event logs indicating any related problems. In researching the error code (-614) it does not appear to be documented. - Extensible Storage Engine 98 error codes 0 to -1048 http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=266361

This might occur when -the depth of the Checkpointfile is too high. We might had to Clear the log files. Error - 1159 Looks like there might be a corruption in the database where you can run a isinteg isinteg -s "Server name" -fix -test alltestsSatheshwaran Manoharan | Exchange 2003/2007/2010 | Blog:http://www.careexchange.in | Please mark it as an answer if it really helps you

I suggest you restart Information store service, then run Exbpa to check on your Exchange Server. The information store is dismounted, and an event ID 1159 message is logged in Exchange Server 2003 or in Exchange 2000 Server http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905801 Thanks, Evan Liu TechNet Subscriber Supportin forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Evan Liu TechNet Community Support
