Exchange 2003 Email Address Change
Hi there, We have currently changed hands and our new boss wants to change our email addresses from firstnameinitialsurname@oldcompanyname.comto firstname.surname@newcompanyname.com. I know that i can change the last part through 'Recipient Policies', buti'm not sure how Ican change all of our users first part of the email address. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? thanks in advance Ste

After searching about i have found the solution. If you create a new SMTP address in a policy all you need to do is have %g.%s@newcompanyname.com and this will allow you to have firstname.surname@newcompanyname.comas your email address. cheers Ste

Hi, Were in a similar situation here. We are a school. Currently, our faculty email addresses are firstnamelastinitial@domain.com, while our student email addresses are firstinitiallastname@domain.com. We'd like to switch that, so that the faculty shows first initial + last name and the students show first name + last initial. I've looked at the article referenced above, but am not sure 1) if that applies to existing email addresses and 2) how to apply different policies to faculty and students. For what it's worth, faculty and students are in different security and distribution groups. Also, does the recipient policyaffect the user logon name? If not, is there an easy way to change that for existing accounts as well? Thanks for your help.
