Exchange 2003 Move Mailbox max threads
When running the Exchange Server 2003 move mailbox wizard up to four mailboxes are moved simultaneously (4 threads). I have read in several forums that the maximum number of threads can be changed via a registry entry. Does anyone
know the details of the registry change to modify the number of mailboxes processed simultaneously by the move mailbox wizard? I want to set the max threads to 1 due to a very slow connection at a remote site while still selecting multiple mailboxes
for processing. The source and destination servers are both Exchange 2003.

I would run multiple instances of the Move Mailbox Wizard instead. Test before going too crazy, You dont want to overwhelm the servers.

Thanks for your response but I think you may have misunderstood my question. I want to "reduce" the number of simultaneous mailbox moves - not increase it. I know that I can just select one mailbox and then move it - however, I want to select
about 50 mailboxes and have them move *one* at a time instead of four at a time.

Ok, I believe its
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\MSExchangeAdmin\Exchange Task Wizard\MaxThreads
I dont think its supported however. Test of course. Be sure to close ESM before adding the key

Awesome! That worked perfectly. I have been searching for this answer for 3 days over multiple forums. I can now select 50 mailboxes and schedule them to move one at a time which works much better than four at a time when the remote Exchange
Server is on a slow site-to-site vpn connection. Thanks again!!
