Exchange 2003 OWA - https access
Hi I have Exchange set-up for OWA, and I can successfully connect to the e-mail server via a browser window from an internal client using https://myserver/exchange. I have checked that therouter and server are accepting port 443, using http://www.canyouseeme.org/, and also that the certificate on the server is valid. I have tried to connect to the server externally using https://www.mydomain.com/alpha/exchange, where Alpha is the name of my Exchange server (and domain server as it's SBS2003), and also using the same URL save for inserting the static IP address, but ie7 time's out and returns the generic "Internet Explorer cannot display the web-page". I am sending/receiving e-mail on this domain, so I don't think there can be any DNS issues regarding the resolution of the domain name. Any thoughts?Regards edit - the error, when you ignore the initial certificate error, is: HTTP Error 403.6 - Forbidden: IP address of the client has been rejected. Internet Information Services (IIS)

Hi, Where does the www.mydomain.com points to ? Normally you would create a seperate host for example: owa.mydomain.com which directly points to the outside IP-address of your Exchange server. If the www.mydomain.com points to this then try it without the servername but directly going to www.domain.com/exchange. Regards, Johan visit my site: www.johanveldhuis.nl

Johan www.mydomain.com points to the external IP address of my router, www.targusit.co.uk, and I have opened HTTP/HTTPS ports and have checked that they're listening/answering. The error is based on a certificate error, which I presume is a set-up issue with SBS2003 rather than the underlying technology itself not working properly. Regards

Hi, Please check the following: 1. Open the Internet Information Services Manager.2. Expand the server name, Web Sites and Default Web Site.3. Right click on the OWA virtual directory and select properties.4. Select the Directory Security tab.5. Click the Edit button in the "IP address and domain name restrictions" section.6. If the radio button for "Denied Access" is checked, make sure the correct local subnet address is entered in the "Except the following:" box.7. Repeat this for all virtual directores under the Default Web Site.8. Restart IIS (Click Start, select Run type IISReset /noforce and click OK). Regards, Johan visit my site: www.johanveldhuis.nl

Hi, Did you configure the NAT (Network Address Translation) in Router? Please understand that the port 443 or 80 should map the internal IP address of the Exchange server, that also indicates the request on port 80 and 433 should be forwarded to Exchange server. After that, the access from external user will be work. Additionally, below link is the similar issue can be used for your reference. http://forums.techarena.in/small-business-server/930405.htm Thanks Allen
