We currently have a Exchange 2003 environment with OMA/OWA. The problem looks like it’s related to IE8 on Windows 7-64. Tested with Chrome/Firefox on Windows 7-64 and there is no problem. Tested with IE8 on Windows XP and there is no problem. There are three workarounds to the problem: 1. Use IE8 on Windows 7-64, check the Basic option when logging into OWA. 2. Use Chrome or Firefox on Windows 7-64. 3. Use a non Windows7-64 OS. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Where do you receive the RedX? There was an issue with Vista and IE 8 where a RedX would appear when performing editing tasks. KB 911829 fixed the issue. Maybe its related to the behavior you are experiencing. Try installing the KB on the Exchange 2003 and see if the behavior still occurs. We haven't tried the KB yet, but why would this problem only happen on a Windows 7-64 machine using IE8?

Hi hmaa, When you click the "New Message" from OWA on a Windows 7 with IE8, suggest you apply the hotfix and try again. And the error may appear if you use Vista.Frank Wang

We are still debating if we want to apply the hotfix since it only affects a few people and has a workaround.

Looks like the hotfix corrected the issue.
